Detecting the angle at which light from a tightly focused laser beam is reflected from an object allows for very precise and reliable distance measurement. The achievable precision level is down to the micrometer range. As this technology is very mature, it enables the development of distance measurement sensors with a unique price-performance ratio.

Laser triangulation in detail

Stable and repeatable measurement results, particularly on surfaces which are not homogeneous, can also be achieved thanks to an advanced optical design. A very tightly focused line beam shape results in minimal distortions of the measurement result.
