Sophie initially joined Baumer as a strategic market manager for the Americas in June of 2022 after having worked for Emerson for over 15 years. In January of 2023, she was promoted to President of Baumer US, leading a team of close to 50 people. With a strong vision, Sophie is already making big moves, hiring new people and relocating the US headquarters to a space that is three times the size of the current location. Her favorite part of working at Baumer is developing and driving our growth strategy and ultimately, leading a team dedicated to supporting our customers with the best sensor product to meet their automation needs.
She has three pieces of advice for women working in the STEM field:
Amy joined Baumer about two years ago with a truly unique background. She spent 20 years working as a police officer in Chicago after having served our nation as a squad leader in Iraq. She has also worked as an associate scientist at a start-up company with her master’s degree in organic chemistry. Her favorite part of working at Baumer is helping engineers solve application problems.
Having worked in many male dominated fields, her advice to women is, “If anyone thinks you’re less than you are, either choose to prove them wrong, or choose to move on. Just don’t start to believe their words.”
Jessica joined Baumer two years ago as a field sales engineer and was quickly promoted to regional sales manager. She joined the Baumer family because she always wanted to pursue a career in Automation. Her favorite part of working at Baumer is that she gets to learn about a lot of different industries and technologies.
Her advice to women is “Believe in yourself and trust your decisions.”
