Baumer offers optimized, user-friendly 3D sensor CAD data that accelerate the engineering process and avoid errors during sensor installation and commissioning.

Mechanical data

Sensors form the basic structure of all sensor CAD models. The origin of the coordinates is always at the same position according to the design of the sensors.

Construction geometries

In order to significantly speed up engineering with sensors and prevent downstream errors, sensor CAD models from Baumer are supplemented with construction geometry.

These can be shown and hidden according to the requirements of the user.

Labeling and notes

To ensure that sensors can be quickly identified even when installed, the area for sensor identification & warning notices (laser class) is highlighted in color in the CAD model.

Display and operating elements

To enable configuration and readout even in installed condition, the CAD model comprises position, size and representation of the display and operating elements.

Optical sensors

The beam path of the optical sensors is represented in the CAD data by construction geometries. Therefore, the beam path no longer has to be constructed manually. This will reduce error potential and engineering time.

Blind region

No object detection is possible in this area.

Detection/measuring range

Marking of how the light behaves and spreads. In this area, objects can be detected and the distance can be measured.

Reception area

This area should not be covered by other parts, as the light from the object or reflector to be detected in this area will be reflected back to the sensor.

Tolerance

Knowledge of the guaranteed tolerance range helps to make the measurement more robust. Baumer stands out because the alignment of the optical axis is checked and thus guaranteed throughout the series to ensure maximum planning reliability.

Ultrasonic sensors

For ultrasonic sensors, the sonic lobe is represented in the CAD data by construction geometries. This means that the sonic lobe no longer has to be constructed manually. This will reduce error potential and engineering time.

Blind region

No object detection is possible in this area.

Sonic lobe

Marking of how the sound of the sensor behaves. The sound curve for the standard object (30x30 mm) is displayed by default. Object detection/distance measurement is possible in this area. With Baumer ultrasonic sensors with IO-Link interface, the sonic lobe can be set to narrow, medium or wide depending on the application.

Connection technology

Regardless of the sensor technology, all sensors require a communication and power connection. Shown below are the three different variants that Baumer offers.

Cable

Visualization of the bending radius at the cable outlet and the open cable end.

Flylead connector

The size of the connector is also shown in addition to the bending radius at the cable outlet.

Connector

The connector terminal is part of the sensor and therefore not a construction geometry.
