Safety is crucial when it comes to speed sensors for train control systems. Our innovative on-axis encoder ensures safe speed measurement up to SIL2. Configuration flexibility enables integration into almost any train control and JRU system. The Baumer sensors are qualified for various train control systems (ETCS, CBTC, ZUB) and juridical recording units (JRU)

Speed and distance measurement

  • Compliant with EN 50128 / EN 50129 SIL2 for simplified safety case
  • Configurable, for example number of pulses per revolution (ppr) and electronic interfaces (HTL, current) 
  • Adapts to specific control unit requirements thanks to many additional functions, e.g. travel direction
  • Multi-unit on-axis encoder without interfering feedback between the encoder units
