Vision sensors for image-based quality control

Illumination is among the most important components of an image processing system, as it determines which object characteristics are visible and can therefore be checked. We explain to you how to choose the right illumination for your application.

VeriSens vision sensors provide 23 different feature checks. Up to 32 checks can be performed all at once – with a single image acquisition – for comprehensive and efficient quality control.

Where others only see grayscales, the patented Baumer FEX image processor for the VeriSens vision sensors calculates object contours at the subpixel level in real time. This means that your image processing functions reliably and quickly at all times, even in unstable ambient light conditions.

The integrated FLEXLoc part location with reliable 360° part detection enables virtual object alignment to check the correct positions – independent of the background. This means that mechanical part alignment is no longer necessary.

The intelligent 3D color assistant ColorFEX helps you to set up color inspections quickly and intuitively. The three dimensions of object color, saturation, and brightness including subtle nuances are automatically determined and visualized.

Thanks to the fully integrated VeriFlash flash controller, the VeriSens vision sensors of the XC series generate external flash pulses with up to 48 V and 4 A; hence expensive external flash controllers and the entailed programming effort are no longer needed.

The patented SmartGrid with automated coordinate alignment of vision sensor and Universal Robot will reduce setup times of robot-compatible vision sensors to only few minutes - with higher accuracy and without time-consuming manual hand-eye calibration. Automatic image rectification in real time, conversion to world coordinates and additional Z-calibration for coordinate scaling in space are supported.

The VeriSens real-time correction of distortion, shading, and perspective bias corrects image distortions and intensity variations, allowing precise image evaluations and dimension checks even if the vision sensor is mounted at an angle.

The configuration software VeriSens Application Suite is uniform for all vision sensors, includes a configurable web interface, is available in nine languages, and guides even non-experts to a fully configured vision sensor in four clearly understandable steps.

The configurable user interface VeriSens web interface allows you to configure the vision sensors at any time, even during the production process, to adjust the range of functions, for example. It can be operated directly via the browser integrated in the machine control.
