In battery cell production, the alignment of the individual components (anode, cathode and separator foil) during battery cell winding is a key factor for the resulting quality of the battery cell. Baumer's precise edge sensors with a repeat accuracy of up to 1 µm enable particularly precise web edge control. Baumer does not use high-risk materials such as zinc, copper or nickel.

Reliable edge detection of transparent films with optical sensors is a major challenge in the packaging industry. OE40 edge sensor with its specialized measuring mode is up to this challenge and can reliably measure edge positions on thin transparent films. 

The smart 2D profile sensor checks floor planks to identify any non-compliance of tongue and groove. By measuring the edge position, the sensor identifies depth or width of tongue and groove. The measured results are delivered straight to the system so that tool wear will be detected early on by any change in the height profile.
