Inspecting the invisible: At Vision 2024, Baumer will be showcasing new cameras that in a unique way solve the special challenges in the UV and IR range.

Baumer pioneering in image processing will be showcasing their latest portfolio highlights at Vision in Stuttgart. Under the motto "Capture the essential - with Baumer", the machine vision experts will explain to users how to benefit from the latest innovations of the Baumer Vision Competence Center. "We are constantly in search for solutions that offer measurable added value to customers. We therefore look forward to premiering some very interesting innovations at Vision 2024," says Michael Conrad, Managing Director of Baumer Optronic, the Vision Competence Center of the Baumer Group.

The special Baumer product highlights at Vision include new developments with RDMA technology, SWIR and UV cameras as well as smart and embedded cameras:

Highlight 1: Breaking the speed limit - with GigE Vision 3.0 over RDMA

Combining top performance with precision and speed is one of the greatest challenges in reliable automation processes. RDMA technology takes GigE Vision image processing systems to a new level without compromising on CPU performance. The technology also allows for highly scalable multi-camera systems in the highest performance class, yet using relatively cost-effective standard network components. At Vision, Baumer will be showcasing the entire performance range from 10 GigE to 100 GigE and even beyond. In addition, a Baumer lecture at the Vision Forum offers access to valuable expert know-how.

Highlight 2: Inspecting the invisible - with SWIR and UV cameras

Baumer responds to the ever-growing demand for tasks in machine vision inspection at wavelengths beyond the visible light spectrum with new products solving in a unique way the specific challenges in the UV and IR range. At Vision, Baumer will be presenting innovative approaches for the best image quality and highest performance in the SWIR (400-1700 nm) and UV (200-400 nm) wavelength range. The CX.SWIR.XC cameras come in a patented thermal design with integrated cooling pipe. It can optionally be used with compressed air or liquids. In combination with defect pixel correction via camera firmware, this ensures best image quality in high-precision applications and in warm environments. The LXT.UV cameras from Baumer combine high 10 GigE performance and UV sensitivity in the spectrum between 200 and 400 nm. They capture features that remain hidden to the human eye and this way open up a wide application potential.

Highlight 3: All on board - smart & embedded cameras

The new, ultra-compact and all-in-one cameras of the IX series integrate lighting, optics and autofocus in a compact industrial housing with IP 67 protection. Hence, the IX cameras can be deployed in virtually any inspection task without big integration effort. As all-integrated GigE Vision cameras they also easily connect with existing vision software and image processing via PC. The all-integrated electromechanical autofocus can be calibrated batch-specific from remote. The IP 67 housing secures the camera against unintentional adjustment for high process safety. Every change made to the settings for image acquisition can be controlled by PC-based software for quality assurance and process monitoring.

The versatile AX Smart Camera are the Baumer solution for vision-at-the-edge and AI applications. As a freely configurable image processing platform, they combine image capture and image processing in a single compact, industrial component. This mainly benefits applications in quality inspection and process monitoring where large amounts of data must be processed within very short time to enable vision-at-the-edge computing.
